For years I had this idea to create a baking blog that’s centered around the dessert recipes my late Grammy used to make for everyone in the family—recipes that have given me great memories of my childhood and beyond. Her Pennsylvania Dutch Chocolate Funny Cake recipe, for example, is by far my no. 1 favorite!

I could never work up the nerve to start it though because the idea of putting myself out there for the whole virtual world to see was (and still kind of is) a little terrifying to me.

In the summer of 2017 I began to break out of my comfort zone, making desserts for neighborhood picnics and family parties. I was discovering my love for baking and I felt like I was gaining confidence with each dessert I made.

The very best part though—and the main reason I love to bake in general—was hearing how much my friends and family loved what I was baking for them. So in December of 2017 I worked up the nerve to create an Instagram feed and by the end of March 2018, Beyond the Butter was born!

My personal goal, through creating Beyond the Butter, is to share a variety of delicious dessert recipes with you that have come from or have been inspired by my late Grammy.

They are recipes that are sweet, simple, and fun to make and bring me—and hopefully you and your loved ones—joy and wonderful new memories!

about me

My husband, Adam and I are originally from just outside Philly, and now live in Central PA with our two cats—who we adore. We’ve been here for a little over 7 years now and absolutely love it! We have fantastic neighbors and lots of amazing places to eat and ride our road bikes.

Besides blogging full-time, baking, cycling, and traveling, I’d have to say my one guilty pleasure of all time is watching my stories—the Real Housewives of New York, New Jersey, and Beverly Hills.

Other favorite shows—reruns of Law and Order, The Office, Parks and Rec, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
